About us

The biggest name in
Google Play testing.

Google introduced its closed testing requirement in late 2023. We hit it ourselves within weeks, and by February 2024 we were building the answer. Today we are the oldest and the largest Google Play testing company in the world.

The scale

No one has taken more apps through
Google Play testing than we have.

Where it started

In late 2023 we were two developers building an Android app called Duho. The app was finished. The store listing was finished. And then Google Play stopped us at the last door.

Play Console · Production
  • Complete the app content section
  • Set up your store listing
  • Have at least 12 testers opted in to your closed test continuously for the last 14 days

A brand new developer account could not publish anything until it had run a closed test with 12 real testers for 14 continuous days. We did not have twelve testers. Almost nobody does. We went through forums, Facebook groups, and Reddit threads, and every answer we found was unreliable, against the rules, or both. We got through eventually, but slowly, and with nothing you could call a path.

The day our app finally went live, one thought would not leave us alone: every independent developer on earth is about to walk into this exact wall.

So on February 1, 2024 we started writing the thing we wished had existed. We worked on it every day for 43 days, and then we put it through the requirement itself: 12 testers, 14 continuous days, the exact rule the app was built to solve. It passed, and on March 14, 2024 the Testers Community app went live on Google Play: free, credit based, developers testing each other's apps to earn their own turn. Two days later our first developer signed up.

Everything since has been the same job at a larger scale. The free community became the largest of its kind anywhere. Developers who needed a launch date they could count on asked us to run the test for them, so we built a paid team to do exactly that, and in May 2025 we brought it online for everyone.

The record

Every date, in order.

  1. Feb 1 2024

    The first line of code

We started building the testing community we wished had existed while we were stuck behind the requirement ourselves.

  2. Feb 20 2024

We put our own app through the requirement

Before shipping anything, we ran the Testers Community app through Google's closed test ourselves: 12 testers, 14 continuous days, the exact rule the app was built to solve.

  3. Mar 14 2024

Testers Community goes live on Google Play

The closed test passed, production access was granted, and the app went live. The product that clears this requirement for you had cleared it for itself first.

  4. Mar 16 2024

    Our first developer signs up

Two days after launch, somebody out there needed exactly the thing we had just built.

  5. Apr 25 2024

Private testing, and our first paying customer

Developers with a launch date to hit wanted the test run for them. Someone paid for it the same day we shipped it.

  6. May 30 2024

    The community takes off

Under three months from launch, spreading entirely by word of mouth, with nothing paid for and nothing promoted.

  7. Nov 23 2024

The largest free testing community anywhere

Nine months in, no other free Google Play testing community came close, and none does today.

  1. May 25 2025

    testerscommunity.com opens to everyone

The managed service came out of the app and onto the web: a paid professional team, a live dashboard, real reports, and the production access guarantee.

  1. Today 2026

10,000+ apps live through the paid plans

Another 50,000+ apps have gone out through the free community app, with developers in more than 180 countries.

Reach

Developers in 180+ countries.

Mumbai, Lagos, Istanbul, Sao Paulo, Jakarta, Warsaw. Reykjavik and Ulaanbaatar too. The requirement is the same everywhere, and so is the wall it puts in front of a first app.

What we do

Two ways in. One outcome.

The only real difference is whether you would rather spend time or money. Both routes clear the same requirement, and we run both ourselves.

Our mission

Every developer deserves a fair shot at publishing their app, whatever their team size, their budget, or who they happen to know.

The thing standing between an app and its first user should be the quality of the app, not whether you can find twelve people willing to open it every day for two weeks. That belief is the reason this company exists, and it still decides everything we build.
